The Song of All Creation
And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. (Revelation 5.9)
Are you ready to sing? That’s what they're doing in Revelation 4-5, singing the songs of heaven: the song of the twenty-four elders, quoted above, the song of the angels, and the song of all creation (“every creature in heaven and on earth”). Wow! What a choir that is!
Lana, my wife, is a super choir leader. Through the years, I have loved singing the wonderful songs she has chosen for our choir. But those songs are only a whisper of what the choir in heaven will sing. You see, every creature sings the song of all creation. Yes, every creature! Why can they do that? Why can every person sing the song of all creation? It is because all people are purchased by the blood of Christ. Jesus Christ’s sacrifice paid the debt for everyone! So, one day, everyone will gather around the throne of God to sing the song of all creation.
In this life, not everyone sings that song, for not everyone has made Jesus their Lord. How tragic it is to think of the multitudes who will be needlessly lost on judgment day. Their sins have been paid for on Calvary. They refused, however, to accept the gift of eternal life. That mistake will haunt people for eternity.
Let us not wait for that day when we gather around the throne of God for the final judgment. No! Let us even now lift our voices in praise and adoration of Jesus! He was slain! With his blood he purchased you and me for God! You are worthy, O Jesus!
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing! ... To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever! Amen!" (Revelation 5.12-13)
