See Jesus
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who is in labor has given birth; then the rest of his brothers shall return to the people of Israel. And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth. And he shall be their peace. (Micah 5.2-5)
Jesus. That's who Micah saw, from his vantage point, seven centuries before the birth of Christ. Amazing!
What did Micah see about Jesus?
He was born in Bethlehem. Tales of taxes and travel, stables and shepherds, angels and anthems. What a beautiful story!
He came from among the clans of Judah. Born of David's line!
He was to be ruler in Israel. Though rejected by his own, he became the cornerstone!
His coming was planned. When the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world!
He would come after a time of God's silence. Over 400 years from Malachi to Matthew!
He would unite people in one body. There will be one flock, one shepherd!
He shall stand. Though Satan threw his worst at our Savior, he arose in glory and will return in majesty!
He shall be great. Every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!
He shall be peace. My peace I give you. In this world you will have troubles, but I have overcome the world!
That's who Micah saw on the other side of Bethlehem. On this side of Bethlehem, "We see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone" (Hebrews 2.9).
