Is That Wedding Music That I Hear?

Scripture
Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure” — for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. (Revelation 19.6-8)

Devotional Thought

Do you hear it? It sounds like wedding music!

  • Hallelujah! This is a Hebrew word meaning simply, “Praise God!” When the end comes, we will be praising God! Let us praise him today with words and lives that give glory to him.
  • The Lord our God the Almighty reigns. God, the Creator of all things, has never released his control of history to chance or to the powers of darkness. God has allowed people to go their own way for a season, in order to permit them to choose their destiny. But he has never surrendered his power. He will bring all things under his authority on that day.
  • Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory. Though there are times in our lives when things seem bleak and even hopeless, we know that the wedding is still before us. Christ will come and take his bride – the Church, the saints of God – to our eternal home. There, our joy will know no bounds.
  • His Bride has made herself ready. Let us come to that wedding clothed in fine linen, bright and pure - the righteousness of Christ and our righteous deeds.
  • The marriage of the Lamb has come. I've officiated at and attended many weddings. My favorite part is probably the music that is played when the bride appears, and the congregation stands. The marriage has finally arrived! I can't wait for that moment when we see Jesus!

Is that wedding music that I hear?

Prayer

One day, O Lord, we will hear that wedding music, and we will join with the multitudes of heaven crying out, "Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns!" What a day that will be! Amen.
