Called to Be Saints

• The Church of God that is in Corinth. They were Christians – in need of some serious ethical training - but Christians, nonetheless. They were part of the larger Church. They had both the privileges and the responsibilities of being identified with the entire body of Christ.
• Sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints. While the Christian is to be holy, we do not withdraw from ordinary life and activity, but rather God comes into our ordinary life and sanctifies it: "I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people" (2 Corinthians 6.16).
• Together with all those in every place. Churches may differ in creed or policy or conduct, but all true churches belong to Christ.
• Call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Not only do we go by the name of Jesus, but we are also invited to call upon that wonderful name.
• Both their Lord and ours. No one group or denomination has “a corner on the market”! As Christians, we have much more in common than we have differences.
